Mersea Island is 5 miles long and 2 miles wide with the South shore one continuous beach and the North shore a quiet haven for wildlife of saltmarsh, mudflats and farmland.

West Mersea Harbour provides quiet, sheltered, safe waters with gentle tides and fabulous services.

West Mersea has an enviable range of amenities for yachtsmen and their families in this prime location on England’s East coast:

✔   Rail links – only 12 miles to the main train line at Colchester. Trains are very frequent to London Liverpool Street, an hour’s journey.

✔ Restaurants and cafes - right by the waterside of the harbour are the The Company Shed, The Victory Hotel, The Dukes Seafood, The Coast Inn and The Mersea Pearl.

✔   In the village, less than 1 mile from the waterfront is the White Hart Inn and a whole range ofare a whole range of small specialist shops from arts and crafts to bakers and butchers, with two larger supermarkets. There is also a library, local museum, community centre with squash and badminton courts and a gym.

✔ Yacht clubs – the West Mersea Yacht Club (which runs RYA approved courses and a launch facility from the public hammerhead jetty) and the Dabchicks Sailing Club are very much part of the harbour.
